Socratic Self-Questioning Lab

six honest questions about anything you're learning

1. What do I already know about this?

List everything, even shaky bits — they show where to dig.

2. What part confused me or felt hand-wavy?

Confusion is the map of where your understanding ends.

3. How would I explain it to a curious 10-year-old?

No jargon allowed. If you need jargon, you don't have it yet.

4. What evidence supports it — and how good is that evidence?

A hunch, a textbook claim, a study with 12 people? Rate it honestly.

5. What's the strongest argument AGAINST it?

Steelman it. If you can't, you don't know the idea's edges.

6. What would change my mind?

If nothing could, that's a belief, not a conclusion.

No Fibs — Honest Limitations

This is a structured prompt for your own thinking — it doesn't check your answers, grade anything, or know the subject. The Socratic method works because answering precisely is harder than it feels; the value comes from writing real answers, not from the questions themselves. Answers save only in your browser.
