Procrastination Trigger Lab

one avoided task, three honest questions

1. What is the very first physical action?

Not 'work on it' — the literal next move: open the file, find the phone number, put on shoes.

2. What feeling is attached to this task?

Boredom, fear of doing it badly, resentment, fog. Naming it reduces its grip (affect labeling has real research behind it).

3. What's the smallest 5-minute version?

So small it's embarrassing to skip. Starting is the whole trick; momentum handles the rest more often than not.

No Fibs — Honest Limitations

Procrastination is mostly an emotion-regulation problem, not a time-management one — that framing has real research behind it (mood repair via avoidance). This lab borrows the standard CBT-style decomposition prompts; it doesn't treat chronic avoidance, ADHD, or depression, which have their own evidence-based treatments.
