They sang it first. A kid on a bike, no handlebars, wind in his face — and we believed it. We believed a kid could do anything. That was the gift. But the song kept climbing. I can design an engine. I can split the atom. I can end the planet in a holocaust. And somewhere between the bike and the bomb, the gift turned into a warning we were too young to hear. We grew up inside that warning. We watched the handlebars get handed to people who never earned them, who rode the whole world toward the edge and called it leadership. And we were quiet, because the song taught us that power just happens, that capability is a slope you ride down until you land wherever it takes you. No. That's the lie. Capability was never a slope. It was a fork. The same hands that can end the planet can refuse to. The same science that splits the atom can keep the lights on without burning the sky. The same microphone that sold us the noise can carry the answer. We were the kids who heard it. We are the adults who answer it. This is not Handlebars Part Two. This is the response. We are not riding this anywhere we don't choose. The handlebars are ours now. And we are steering home.
