Better guides than a count

  • Thirst is a reliable signal in healthy adults — drink when thirsty.
  • Pale-yellow urine usually means you're well hydrated.
  • Heat, exercise, and altitude raise your need; sitting in AC lowers it.

No Fibs — Honest Limitations

The "8 glasses of water a day" rule is not strongly evidence-based — it's a rough heuristic that stuck. Real needs vary with body size, climate, and activity, and food provides water too. Better honest guides are thirst and urine color (pale yellow = fine). Tracking can build awareness, but chugging water past thirst carries a small but real risk of overhydration. This is a habit tool, not medical advice.
